The e-pill Med-Time is a computerized automatic medication "pill" dispenser, containing 28 compartments. At preprogrammed times, one to four times a day, the dispenser rotates and the next compartment becomes available through an aparture in the lid and the preprogrammed alarm signal is sounding. The signal sounds for 15 sec., is quiet for 15 sec. sounds for 15 sec. ... for 30 minutes ... if the Med-Time is not turned upside down. The medicine is taken by turning the unit upside down. The alarm signal is then automatically turned off. Dispensed drugs last for at least one week (4 times a day) and maximum for 28 days (once a day).
Loading Med-Time
Loading medicine into the 28 compartments and monitoring the Med-Time function is rendered easier by the information discs which can be fastened on the top of the dispenser.
Setting clock and alarm times
Setting and checking clock and alarm times is easily executed using the three requisite buttons.
12/24-hour time-periods
There is a 12 hour (AM/PM) preset display. Transferring to a 24 hour display is carried out by using the buttons.
Built-in medication tray monitor
An alarm signal is activated if any fault should arise which affects the rotation of the dispenser. The alarm continues until the batteries are removed.
Testing
The Med-Time has an built-in test function. It is activated by pressing one of the buttons.
Alarm-signal - 4 settings
Three different tone signals are possible, 3000, 2800 resp 1900 Hz. The alarm signal is strong. The Med-Time can also operate in a signal-off mode.
Lock
The Med-Time is equipped with a lock which further reduces the risk of exceeding stipulated dosage.
PERS/AMAC interface
Med-Time has been designed to work with American Medical Alert Corporation's PERS (Personal Emergency Response System). A transmitter can be interfaced with the connector in the battery housing to allow remote monitoring of the Med-Time unit.
Minimal Maintenance
Batteries must be changed when the indicator lights up. At normal usage the batteries last for at least 6 months. Four Alkaline AA batteries should be used. Time, alarm times, selected alarm signal etc. remain set even after battery change.
